I am finally understanding how an artist can be so passionate about their music. Its not about writing neat little hooks or rhymes anymore. When music is created out of your life experiences, there is a new reason for playing. Every time the song is sung, you are reminded of the passion, the emotion that was poured out as it was formed. And all of a sudden your life is open for the listener to experience. You cant hide behind your favorite cover song anymore. Who you are and what you have been through is now available to anyone in ear range.
These songs were never meant for anyone but me and God. But as I have begun to share them I am surprised to find they are opening up opportunities to tell others about the great lengths love will go to in order to reach into a person and change them for the better. 5 songs, which currently make up the Darker Side of Love EP, are my best attempt to capture these experiences.
Thanks for listening...

From Mourning to Morning- (John 6:44) This song was co-written with my good friends JT and Keri. It was a poem written to a friend of Keri's who lost both her parents is a car accident. It follows her life in the wake of such an intense tragedy, from her struggles with wanting to end her own life, to the enormous joy of being reborn in a relationship with Christ. Keri watched this struggle and joy and in the end realized that Christ was the only one who could have made the change. I am reminded of this same thing every time I think about them. I am just a human; lives are only changed through the amazing power of being in love with your creator. God has taken JT and Keri so far over the last few years and I am so glad that He let me be part of their lives. I love you guys, and I am praying that Japan continues to lead you closer.

Loving the Unlovely- This song was co-written with my good friend Nick as we were being lead through one of the most neglected areas of our lives; loving other people. If I could sum up the first few years of my time living in New Mexico into one overall lesson, it would be the basis of this song. It took 2 years to understand Love's grip on my own life, it took 5 more to only scratch the surface on what it means to truly love others. On the exterior, this is an incredibly selfish song, but in the chorus resides our ache to be changed. I left my previous home after being surrounded with beautiful people, both inside and out. Being naieve I expected to be brought into an even bigger more beautiful place. Instead, Nick and I were asked to love people who can be very unlovely at times. This song is about the selfishness that arises as we deal with what it really means to love. The surprise twist is that I have found myself to be one of the unlovely. Just as I struggle to accept people who are different then me, others struggle to open their hearts to who I am.
Oh God, please teach me to love!!!

Your songs are incredibly amazing, and I\'m really glad
that you decided to share them with the world. They\'re
honest and beautiful and wonderfully different from
some of the music that\'s popular these days. God has
blessed you with a talent and style that\'s really
inspiring to me, and I can\'t wait to hear more of your
music. God bless.
