ABOUT 23RAINYDAYS:
There is nowhere to run. You cannot escape the torrent of 23RAINYDAYS. Their sound is a lush, impeccably mixed brand of rock described by the band's membership as post punk dance metal. This Washington, DC based band assails you with the heartfelt honesty of emo, the classic melancholy of 80s new wave, and the cutting edge of modern rock. The result is music that has blended mass appeal into one thoughtful sound.
Behind / Ahead
There is a wry humor that is evident throughout the band's unofficial mission statement "23RAINYDAYS writes music that we hope will end up in John Hughes' films when John Hughes makes a triumphant return to Hollywood... We write music that kids can relate to... well... mainly kids in black." They joke about a narrow genre that belies the true universal appeal of their music. On the timeline, 23RAINYDAYS references the classic new wave hooks and the most modern of the nu new wave, while grasping the pure rock in between.
Notches in the Belt
23RAINYDAYS can say a lot for itself. Already the band has shared the stage with the likes of Kill Hannah, The 69 Eyes, Katatonia, Modern English, Wednesday 13, Violent Femmes, Guided By Voices, Program the Dead, and others. The band has been noted as number one in its region for its genre on myspace.com and Garageband.com featured their single My Own Addiction as Track of the Day. Garageband.com also named 23RAINYDAYS winners of the several awards in the Alternative Rock category: Best Production, Best Melody, Most Rocking Track.
Widescale
The band is moving forward with determination. They are scheduled to tour through autumn and their new EP Broken Hearts Bleed Black is scheduled for release in September 2006. With a sound that is both classic and cutting edge, it's almost a given that widescale recognition awaits 23RAINYDAYS. Get ready for the downpour!

so right now we're in final rehearsals for a series of shows that, if all goes as planned, will catapult the band into superstardom. that will make the fact that we're rehearsing in sub-zero temperatures that much more laughable when we're all sitting around in ascots and smoking jackets and joking about the "good 'ol days." funnier still is that i'm not kidding. we're rehearsing in a storage facility without heat or insulation. there is a large hangar-like door that pulls down and any attempt at heating this room results in the blowing of fuses. oh...have i mentioned that we're also rehearsing in a fire hazard?
that aside, things are really going quite well. we have a new album and the response we've gotten to the material has been amazing. we also have some really great opportunities in front of us...announcements to come later. but the thing that's really going well is our amazing new lineup.
some of you may know that one by one - abe, ravi, and sam - left the band after our last tour and while we were sad to see them go, jonathan and i began recruiting right away. dc fans will already know most of our new lineup as they come from some amazing regional bands. let me introduce you to the new members of 23rainydays:
dennis kapoyos: guitar/electronics (formerly of chrysalis)
bryan kimes: bass (from girlfriend in a coma)
brian fasani: drums (from 51 peg)
so...that's it! we're back to five and we can't wait to get back on the road. see you guys in march and please, please, please...listen to the new material and let us know what you think!!!

so recording has gone really well. the studio was somewhat tedious but our producer marco is very laid back so there hasn't been as much pressure as usual. unfortunately, the main room of the studio is so hot you could cook an egg in my pants. not that you'd want a well cooked, unwashed egg from such a place but you get the idea.
the good news is that our band has never sounded better and the songs we're churning out are simply unbelievable. the addition of jonathan and the return of eric has been nothing short of mind blowing. we continue to shape and reshape songs old and new but the set sounds amazing.
for dc fans, we hope to see all of you at the velvet lounge on saturday, may 27. we're playing with maple who some of you might remember from the blizzard show at dc9. they're a great live band and also very nice guys. can't wait to see you at the show!

ok...we want to play the warped tour. we want to share the stage with sugarcult and avenged sevenfold. we'd also like a major record deal but that's not what this is about. we need you to vote for us to be added to the warped tour and i mean you need to vote now and tell all of your friends to vote.
go here to vote: http://www.battleofthebands.com/23rainydays
one listen equals one vote so listen to both songs...now!
