R.I.P. Joel Avenue - (10.20.86 - 11.19.09)
As some of you may know, on November 19, 2009 Joel decided to leave this earth. After lots of soul searching we decided to remain as 16th Avenue. It's the best thing we can do, to keep going with 16th Avenue so anytime anyone looks up our band they will always see Joel and his history and how important he was to this band and music in general.
Since Joel can't say it, we will, he thanks all the fans and anyone who has believed in us or supported us. At our last show together he said how good it made him feel when he would hear how our fans lives were changed due to his song writing. The only thing we can ask all of you, is to remember Joel as the funny, shy yet extremely handsome song writer he was, and to keep his spirit alive.
In weeks to come, we will be announcing and holding a fundraiser for Joel's family, anyone who can make it we would love to see you.
No family can be prepared for losing their 23 year old son, so any donations anyone can make would also be greatly appreciated, you can contact us via Myspace, and we can work something out.
Adam and myself will continue to figure out the next direction for 16th Avenue, and we will keep you updated.
The next time any of you listen to Jimmy Eat World, Elliot Smith or Smashing Pumpkins, take a second and think of Joelio. Our fans made his life that much better, and you all mean the world to us.
R.I.P. to our brother and bestfriend, and the best damn sidekick either of us could've asked for.
