The Hundred Aker Wood is the fictional home of Winnie the Pooh and his friends---a collection of other animals that each expresses a certain kind of distinct personality that, in reality, depicts a sense of ourselves. The wood is often visited by a boy named Christopher Robin, who tends to help and guide Pooh and his friends when in trouble. Together, along with the help of Christopher Robin, Pooh and his friends enjoy the pleasures and trials of the near endless wilderness named the Hundred Aker Wood.
Interestingly enough, another wilderness exists that leads us not to question its parallel between the story, but it leads us to wonder which character, if not Pooh, depicts us best. For life can be surmised in a number of ways and surely the word 'wilderness' does well to do so. Yet in this wilderness of ours, with its trials and hardships, pleasures and joys, there is a helper who often guides and aids us in our journey. He may not have the last name Robin, but His first name is Christ.
In Deuteronomy 1.31, the Bible says "And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place." The verse is talking about the Israelite's journey from 40 years in the wilderness to the land of abundance that God has promised them. And on this journey, God reminds them that He led them out of their trials, out of their burdens, out of their wilderness, to the promised land.
In the same way, as God led the Israelites and as Christopher Robins helped Pooh and his friends, so Jesus Christ helps us in our wilderness and leads us to something greater: a land better than any other, and so much so, that there exists no other word to define it, Heaven.
